Dr. Winckler provides daily clinical supervision, via on-scene medical direction, online medical direction, and performance improvement processes, to over 2000 prehospital providers. Dr. Winckler implemented a novel approach to out of hospital cardiac arrest in San Antonio, which involves telemedicine and outcomes focused CPR for San Antonio Fire Department. He also led the implementation of a groundbreaking whole blood deployment process and transfusion guideline for patients in hemorrhagic shock on scene, the first of its kind for a metropolitan EMS system in the United States. Dr. Winckler focuses on developing systems and partnerships for Fire, EMS, hospitals and all vested partners to communicate clearly and work seamlessly together.
