Description: This presentation will draw on the historic development of community paramedic roles in the Australasia, Canada, the USA, and the UK in order to identify the commonalities that exist across different programmes that exist within these countries, as well as an overview of there differences. These will be explored alongside seminal theories from sociology, anthropology and medical sciences to outline the theory of practice for community paramedics - wherever they work. Using this theory of practice as a framework, the topic shall be explored regarding future development of the role of community paramedics across these four geographical areas.
