Shannon Kelly is a doctoral candidate and Life Sciences Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Craig Emter at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Furman University prior to working as a laboratory technician at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis on clinical and translational studies related to obesity and insulin resistance. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Biology from Saint Louis University where she performed basic research studying trans-plasma membrane electron transport and was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award in Biology. Currently, she is evaluating extracellular matrix remodeling in large animal models of heart failure and examining potential therapeutics and pathogenesis of right ventricular dysfunction.
