Driven by a strong interest in psychoactive substances, I studied Pharmaceutical Sciences and Toxicology at the University of Basel. After completing my master’s thesis in a bioanalytical laboratory at the University of Utrecht, I returned to Basel and joined the Psychopharmacology research group of Prof. Matthias E. Liechti. Within the scope of a PhD thesis, I investigated the pharmacological and toxicological properties new psychoactive substances. After finishing my PhD, I was granted two postdoctoral fellowships by the Swiss National Science Foundation to study monoamine transporter oligomerization and the mechanism of action of stimulants at the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology. After three years of postdoctoral research in Vienna, I recently returned to the group of Prof. Liechti with the aim of studying the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of stimulants and psychedelics.
