Wolfgang Sadee is Professor of Cancer Biology and Genetics, College of Medicine, The Ohio State University, Emeritus Professor at UCSF, and Chief Scientific Officer, Aether Therapeutics. With a doctorate degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, FU Berlin, he previously served on the faculty of USC and UCSF until 2002. Dr. Sadee’s research focuses on pharmacogenomics to advance personalized medicine, with focus on molecular genetics and functional genomics to identify target genes relevant to cardiovascular and CNS disorders including addiction, cancer, and infectious diseases. His work has revealed gene networks and regulatory polymorphisms that affect gene expression, RNA processing, and translation (for example in OPRM1 and DRD2), leading to inter-individual differences in disease and therapy. Since 2002 at OSU College of Medicine, he has developed a Center for Pharmacogenomics. Current research focuses on therapies for pain, opioid addiction, and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome. Dr. Sadee has >400 publications and multiple patents. He is founding editor of Pharmaceutical Research and The AAPS Journal, and has received multiple awards, e.g., Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
