My name is Robert Tipton and I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. I graduated from Missouri State University in May of 2018 majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology with a concentration in pre-medical sciences and a minor in Chemistry. I am currently a second-year biomedical science master’s student at A. T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am working on my Master thesis in Dr. Tim Ostrowski’s lab in the Physiology department. My thesis looks into the role of glutamate signaling in the nucleus tractus solitarii (nTS), and the changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). For this I am using a rat model and patch clamp electrophysiology to access the neuronal activity in the nTS.
