Aratrika Saha is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Wayne Backes in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Engineering, majoring in Biotechnology from the Manipal Institute of Technology, India. Her doctoral research primarily focuses on protein-protein interactions among P450 system proteins. She is passionate about advocacy and policy-making and was an ASPET Washington Fellow of 2020 which resulted in her advocating for animal research and increased funding for NSF and NIH at Capitol Hill, Washington DC in 2020. In addition to her primary functions as a graduate student, she also served as Vice-President of Community Outreach of the Student Government Association (SGA) of the School of Graduate Studies. Prior to her role with the SGA, she was the founding Vice-President of the International Students Association (ISA) at LSUHSC in 2017, followed by two years as President.
