Alex, an undergraduate senior at Oregon State University, has pioneered the use of bioinformatics and custom image processing algorithms in Dr. Maria C. Franco's lab to help advance their research into the role of oxidative post-translational modifications in the mechanisms of central nervous system pathologies such as Glioblastoma Multiforme. Previously, Alex has earned an Associate's of Applied Science in Bioscience Technology from Portland Community College. He worked under Dr. Brady Bernard to develop computational quality-control measures for adaptive T-cell therapy at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in the Providence Portland Medical Center. Alex is excited to apply his knowledge acquired in his studies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Biological Data Sciences to a new challenge starting this summer - a Postbaccalaureate IRTA Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health under the mentorship of Dr. ZuHang Sheng.
