Sheena Sharma is a third-year PhD candidate in Dr. Bhagwat Prasad's lab at Washington State University Spokane. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Delhi University and with a master's degree in pharmaceutical analysis from India's National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research.
Growing up with parents in the healthcare industry taught her early on the value of medicine and instilled in her the desire to work in a field related to health care. She was motivated by the concept of 'precision medicine,' which she first encountered while completing her master's degree. Following that, she concentrated on her thesis masters research project, which involved the prediction of oral drug absorption in fed and fasted states using physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, a promising alternative to clinical trials.
She is looking forward to working on exciting research problems during her Ph.D. in order to hone her critical thinking and build a strong mentoring circle. She is a firm believer that conferences such as ASPET, provide excellent opportunities for young scientists to gain exposure to a variety of research fields and to leverage collaborations and networking opportunities. Her long-term career goal is to establish herself as an independent and creative scholar, as she enjoys teaching and working in a team. She enjoys reading inspirational books, listening to music, and cooking!
