Yang Yu was born in Xi’an, China. Yang received his Bachelor of Medicine in Preventive Medicine at Ningxia Medical University in 2014. He continued his education and obtained his Master of Medicine in Nutritional Sciences at Harbin Medical University in 2017. His Master’s dissertation focused on investigating the cell signaling pathways involved in vitamin E succinate induced autophagy in human gastric cancer cells. After completed his master’s degree, Yang started his Doctor of Philosophy in Nutritional Sciences at University of Florida in August 2017 under the direction of Dr. James Collins. During his doctoral program, he has presented his work at a number of different conferences, including Experimental Biology and East-to-West Iron Club.
