Joy Omini is a third year PhD student of Biochemistry at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before coming down to Nebraska, she had her Masters degree in Biochemistry from Covenant University in Nigeria, and then she decided to get a PhD in a different part of the world to get new research experiences and learn new culture.
Joy's area of research/interest is multienzyme complex dynamics and its relationship with metabolic flux. She studies the fascinating TCA cycle multienzyme complex consisting of Malate dehydrogenase and Citrate synthase in living yeast cells and in vitro. She uses techniques like Microscale thermophoresis, 13C- metabolic flux analysis, split-luciferase protein-protein interaction based reporter and mitochondrial biosensors for her research.
At the ASBMB meeting, she will have a poster presentation titled Malate Dehydrogenase-Citrate Synthase Multienzyme Complex Dynamics Is Affected By TCA Cycle Flux In Living Yeast Cells.
