The main focus of my research is to understand the molecular events leading to skeletal muscle degeneration. During my PhD at McGill University, I studied the regulatory roles of autophagy & mitophagy in the maintenance of skeletal muscle health. My research combines genetic, molecular, cellular and physiological approaches to investigate signaling pathways regulating skeletal muscle mass and function. My other research interests include metabolic complication, aging process, exercise physiology and skeletal muscle myopathy. Presently, I am currently working on characterizing novel genes and molecular pathways that control skeletal muscle health.
