Mr. Praneeth Silva is a M.Sc candidate and currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant belongs to the Department of Oral Biology at University of Manitoba. Praneeth Silva accepted Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Zoology stream from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo, Sri Lanka. His dissertation of undergraduate research project was primarily addressed on Wildlife Ecology, Wildlife Diseases, Animal Polymorphism and Biodiversity and Conservation. He served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (2017-2018) and Graduate Research Assistant (2018-2021) at the Department of Zoology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has authored and co-authored many science index and index research articles as well as online magazines and many newspaper articles.
His current work on research interests focus on pigment biology. Here, he is looking at the melanophore development of Zebrafish embryos with the effect of different activators and repressors of cellular signaling pathways especially, Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Moreover, mainly he is targeting on Wnt-ethanol interactions, since ethanol is considered as an environmental drug that possess an inhibitory effect on melanogenesis, severe defects in melanocyte development and lack of worldwide research studies and huge public knowledge gap.
