Zachary J. Collier MD is a plastic and reconstructive surgery resident at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, currently pursuing a two-year global surgery fellowship with Operation Smile. His global surgery work is focused on understanding the regional and socioeconomic burden of burn injury around the world, improving burn care in resource-constrained settings, and developing innovative methods of training surgical providers in burn care and reconstructive surgery to expand workforce capacity. He is currently working with burn teams in Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, and the Philippines as part of his global burn endeavors. Dr. Collier received his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Virginia and his M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
