IAC Immediate Past Chair
David Sacks, MD serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the IAC Board of Directors and as Immediate Past President of the IAC Carotid Stenting Board of Directors as a representative of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). Dr. Sacks currently works in the Interventional Radiology section at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, PA. Dr. Sacks earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Radiology and his fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sacks was a principal investigator on the KAVIAR trial comparing vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty and is currently a principal investigator on the NIH ATTRACT trial comparing catheter directed thrombolysis and anticoagulation for lower extremity deep vein thrombosis. He is president of the board of IAC Carotid Stenting division and serves on the board of INSTOR, a national registry for stroke interventions. An accomplished author, Dr. Sacks has authored and co-authored over 100 journal articles including standards for training and outcomes for carotid stenting and stroke interventions and serves as a distinguished reviewer for the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is past president of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and has been a member of several committees for SIR including the FDA Committee, Standards of Practice Committee, Technology Assessment Committee, Public Affairs Committee and the Safety and Health Committee. He was co-director of the SIR stroke intervention course. In addition to SIR, Dr. Sacks is a fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and a member of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), the Philadelphia Angiography and Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS) and the American Medical Association (AMA).
