Dr. Kyra Reed serves as Assistant Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency and Assistant Professor in both clinical emergency medicine and pediatrics, and has intentionally focused her career around cultivating the medical education, wellness, and professional development of learners. As a member of the residency leadership team, she oversee schanges in the educational curriculum for emergency medicine residents. She consistently seeks out opportunities to mentor residents and cultivate skills in leadership, wellness, and curriculum development. As the Advocacy Track Faculty Co-Chair and member of the Academic Track she spends time mentoring and directing residents’ passion for patient care and education into actionable projects. In pursuit of improving wellness, she is PD liaison for resident wellness and member of the faculty wellness committee, where she helps to create and implement resident and faculty wellness projects, including faculty panels on mental health and creating surveys with the wellness survey team to track burnout during COVID. As current PI for the Curriculum Enhancement Grant and recipient of the Rolly McGrath Faculty Fellowship, she is developing and researching a novel wellness and mental health curriculum for EM residents. In recognition of her pursuits in education, she received the Excellence in Clinical Teaching: Chisholm Rodgers Legacy Award.
