As Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs, Annabella Salvador-Kelly, MD, leads medical affairs throughout Northwell Health (New York's largest healthcare system), including credentialing, policies and procedures, as well as curating talented physicians. She is also responsible for standardizing clinical policies and pharmacologic and therapeutic interventions across the clinical enterprise.
Dr. Salvador-Kelly has served in various roles with progressive responsibilities since joining Northwell in 1999. She began her career as an attending physician at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH), where she served as the Director of Performance Improvement and Medical Director for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program until moving to Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) in 2013. At LIJMC, her roles included Associate Medical Director of the hospital, Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine, Director of Quality and Performance Improvement and Medical Director of the ED nurse practitioner program.
Dr. Salvador-Kelly has extensive quality and mentoring experience. She has served as a mentor to numerous attending physicians, residents, medical students, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and college students. She is an Associate Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and serves on several committees at the school.
Among the numerous awards she has received is Northwell’s 2014 President’s Award for Teamwork, and she’s published several manuscripts and chapters on emergency medicine. Dr. Salvador-Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from New York University and a medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Bellevue Hospital Center/New York University Medical Center.
