Dr Leigh Patterson, MD. MAEd, is the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine for the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, in Greenville, North Carolina. Dr. Patterson completed her residency at Louisiana State University and her fellowship in Emergency Medicine Ultrasound at Drexel College of Medicine. She completed her Master of Arts in Education at East Carolina University and served as a Residency Director for Emergency Medicine. She has worked in UME as a course director and as Chair of the Executive Curriculum Committee. Following her time as a Residency Director, Dr. Patterson served as the Associate Dean For Faculty Devellopment. She regularly mentors faculty on career planning and developing teaching skills. Dr. Patterson continues to enjoy as busy Emergency Department shift with residents and students. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and is an avid knitter and Twitter fan.
