Dr. Jacobs is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the George Washington (GW) University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is “Grady made,” having completed her emergency medicine residency at Emory University in Atlanta. She currently works as an attending physician in both the community and in academics in northern Virginia and Washington DC. She has written numerous articles and spoken for FemInEM on navigating corporate and hospital policies related pregnancy and maternity leave. Since joining GW, Dr. Jacobs has pursed interest in medical ethics and palliative care including developing various articles and media pieces highlighting the importance of having goals of care conversations with patients and families in the emergency department. During the pandemic, multiple journals including Annals, AEM, and AEM Education and Training published Dr Jacobs’ research on moral distress and moral injury in physicians. Additionally, her manuscript series co-authored with Dr Rita A. Manfredi and published in AEM, “The Silver Linings of Covid” has been highlighted by multiple media outlets including Doximity, WebMD, and the New York Times. She is a member of the GW University Hospital Ethics Committee, AWAEM and AAWEP.
