Associate Professor
University of California, San Francisco , California, United States
Dr. Porter attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis then went on to complete residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago. Her fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) took place at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. She immediately transitioned to a faculty role at the University of California, San Francisco. Curiosity and a commitment to diversity are the pillars that support her interest in medical education. Through teaching and her leadership role as assistant residency director she has created an inclusive learning environment for those traditionally underrepresented in medicine (UIM). Her collaborations include the topics of financial literacy, PEM curricula and didactics for EM and Pediatric learners, and the recruitment and retention of URM applicants to EM. She serves as a mentor and advisor to many students and residents and was recently accepted to the University of California, San Francisco's Academy of Medical Educators as a reflection of her accomplishments in teaching, mentorship, and leadership. She looks forward to using medical education as a vehicle to improve the diversity of Emergency Medicine, and better serve the needs of the communities she serves.
