Dr. Heidi Baer is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Director of Simulation at Mount Sinai West and Morningside. She is clinically active at the Mount Sinai West and Morningside Hospital’s Departments of Emergency Medicine. She trained in emergency medicine at Drexel (Formerly MCP-Hahnemann), in Philadelphia. Prior to residency, she completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University, a Master of Arts in Health Sciences, at Harvard University Extension School, and medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Dr. Baer has held multiple clinical and administrative positions in addition to her role as the Director of Simulation Emergency Medicine, including the Medical Director of the Patient Safety Institute at Staten Island University Hospital, Staten Island, Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
As a noted simulation education leader, Dr. Baer is active locally and nationally in healthcare simulation education and has been a mentor for residents and fellows for more than a decade. She has developed evidence-based curricula to improve communication and team-based learning for medical students, residents, fellows, faculty and interdisciplinary advance practice providers. She is nationally known for her participation in local, national and international SimWars® events.
