Dr. Gipson was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI. She received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biotechnology from Yale University in New Haven, CT. She received her M.D. from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, OH. She completed her preliminary Internal Medicine year and Emergency Medicine Residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center of CWRU. Dr. Gipson received her MPH in Health Management and Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Gipson completed a Health Policy Fellowship in the Emergency Medicine Health Policy Section at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Her interests lie in vulnerable populations and health policy as a means of social justice. Her policy experiences include fellowships in the offices of Congressman Raul Ruiz (CA-36) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). Dr. Gipson also worked in the D.C. office of the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation whose aim is to promote a high performing health care system.
Dr. Gipson is an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine/Grady Memorial Hospital. Her research interests include the Social Determinants of Health and how they influence access to and use of Emergency Medical Services in high risk populations as well as the care of older adults in the Emergency Department. She is the founding Fellowship Director for the Emergency Medicine Health Policy Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine.
