Professor Ardeshir Bayat BSc (Hons), MB BS PhD, is a clinician scientist as well as a principal investigator and co-director of the Medical Research Council Wound Healing Unit at the Division of Dermatology, University of Cape Town in South Africa as well as the Co-lead at the Wound Healing, Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR), Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Research and Centre for Dermatology Research, University of Manchester, England, UK.
His research work is focused on the subject of skin repair, rejuvenation and regeneration. He has an H index of 65, having presented (in excess of 600 personal and supervised presentations given to date) and published extensively (more than 490 publications including original papers, review articles, book chapters and published abstracts) in this field.
He is a grant reviewer for many Research Councils including the NIHR, MRC, and Welcome Trust amongst others. He currently sits on the editorial boards of several journals related to areas of expertise. His research thrives upon the multidisciplinary and interactive research environment that exists between the bedside (the clinic/hospital), the bench (laboratory) and industry.
