Jessica Luc is a fourth year cardiovascular surgery resident at the University of British Columbia. Exploring the field of academia, she has over 140 peer-reviewed publications, 9 book chapters, and given over 100 presentations internationally spanning education, healthcare law and surgical ethics, global surgery, basic science, digital scholarship, translational and clinical research. She is co-editor of an upcoming textbook entitled “Operative Dictations in Cardiothoracic Surgery”. Jessica is the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network (CTSNet) resident editor, Editorial Board member of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, Innovations: Technology and Techniques in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Artificial Organs, as well as a Thoracic Surgery Social Media Network (TSSMN) trainee delegate. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Thoracic Surgery Residents Association (TSRA), the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) Wellness Committee, Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Committee Workforce on E-Learning and Educational Innovation, STS ad hoc Canadian Task Force, STS Standards and Ethics Committee, the Cardiothoracic Surgery Ethics Forum, Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) Trainee Committee Networking Working Group, Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS), and is part of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Precision Health Work Group. She is a member of the Thoracic Education Cooperative Group (TECoG), Global Cardiac Surgery Initiative (GCSI), International Student Surgical Network (InciSioN), Canadian Cardiovascular Research Collaboratory (C3), as well as collaborator of the Medical Education Translational Resources Impact and Quality (METRIQ) study. In addition, she has served on the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) professional practice guidelines and consensus document working group and has been nominated to be on the writing committee for the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines. Jessica has been named a Top 30 under 30 in Alberta and Plan Canada’s Top 20 under 20 Finalists.
