Mr. Kevin Purcell is an Ergonomist with the US Army Public Health Center. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Human Factors and Ergonomics from San Jose State University, completing his thesis work at NASA Ames Research Center on human-machine interfaces. He also holds a Project Management Professional certification. Current projects include work on Ergonomic Health Hazard Assessments on Army equipment, Industrial Safety and Ergonomic Site Visits, and work on industrial exoskeletons.
He is also currently a member of ASTM’s standards committee F48 Committee on Exoskeletons and Exosuits, as well as F48.02 Technical Subcommittee on Exoskeleton Human Factors and Ergonomics.
Previous to Public Health Center, Mr. Purcell was the human factors manager for the Missile Defense System’s intranet. He also provided technical leadership to promote successful fatigue mitigation programs to the Department of Transportation. For the FAA he developed Human Factor Requirements documentation for air traffic control rooms, as well as implemented a Human System Integration methodology to track progress during a 2 year ground radar system Service Life Extension Program.
For the private sector, Mr. Purcell gathered operating room data as well as interviewed surgeons and field representatives for a surgical device maker. He has also worked on usability and usefulness aspects for computer intranets and websites.
Mr. Purcell has written and published numerous White papers and publications.
