Kathy Dubowski, RN, MSN is the Chief, Office of Performance and Quality (OPQ) at the Erie VA Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She joined the Erie VA in 2020 and Co-Chairs the organization's HRO Workgroup Committee. Currently, Ms. Dubowski has administrative oversight for the OPQ department which houses subject matter experts in the fields of Safety and Emergency Management, Systems Redesign, Patient Safety, Risk Management, Utilization Review, Management Analytics, Veteran Experience, Infection Prevention and Control and Regulatory Accreditation. Ms. Dubowski is a respected leader with executive healthcare and quality background. Her work history includes directing Infusion and Wound Healing Services at UPMC Hamot where she was responsible for the upstart of Hyperbaric Medicine services. Ms. Dubowski served as the President of Great Lakes Home Healthcare Services, growing the company into $25.5 million operation that included home-based clinical services, durable medical equipment and four medical retail showrooms in Pennsylvania and New York. Ms. Dubowski's professional presentations include topics related to ventilator dependency, interdisciplinary care planning in rehabilitation, nurturing creativity, team building and quality. Ms. Dubowski was a Charter Officer of the Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and a Charter member of Eta Xi Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau. Trained in TeamSTEPPS, she served on a Magnet hospital workgroup to develop a patient safety training presentation that incorporated LifeWings and TeamSTEPPS concepts. She currently serves as a member of the Erie Independence House Human Rights Committee.
