Enteric Infections Focus Area Lead

Maj Amy L. Bogue, Enteric Infections Focus Area Lead, Global Emerging Infections Surveillance (GEIS) Branch, Armed Forces Health Surveillance Division, Public Health Directorate, Defense Health Agency, Silver Spring, Maryland. She is responsible for the Enteric Infections Focus Area and the Next Generation Sequencing Bioinformatics Consortium; both efforts support GEIS surveillance portfolios with 12 DoD laboratories performing surveillance testing that benefits force health protection measures. Data from GEIS surveillance is used to inform the Global Combatant Commands (GCCs), DoD leadership, and GEIS stakeholders. Maj Bogue guides resource allocation in the Enteric Infections portfolio with $4.3 million dollars of surveillance funds. She leads programmatic administrative updates for the yearly proposal cycles by aligning 10 strategy documents with GCC priorities to meet the DoDs surveillance interests. The information gathered by enteric infections surveillance projects shapes readiness postures in 26 countries.
