Speech Language Pathologist

Gernise Dixon is a Lieutenant (LT) in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, currently assigned to the Department of Defense as a Speech-Language Pathologist. LT Dixon is stationed at Camp Lejeune providing skilled speech therapy services at the Intrepid Spirit Concussion Recovery Center to active duty soldiers with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Prior to joining USPHS she worked as a civilian in clinical settings as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the adult population. LT Dixon is ASHA board certified specializing in dysphagia, adult neurogenic disorders and geriatric rehabilitation with a focus on cognitive linguistic deficits. LT Dixon has an interest in public health with a focus on prevention and wellness to help reduce health disparities. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, she went on to obtain a Master’s of Health Science in Communication Disorders from Governor’s State University.
