LCDR Babawale was born in Nigeria, and after graduating high school, she migrated to the United States in search of better opportunities. She enlisted in the Navy on 10 Jan 2002. Following her completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes she attended Hospital Corpman “A” school at Naval Staion Great Lakes.
In August 2002 she reported to Naval Air Facility Washington DC on Andrews Air Force base where she served as a General duty Corpsman. She was promoted to HM3 in November 2004 and then to HM2 in March 2005. In October 2005 HM2 Babawale transferred to Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove where she served as the Leading Petty Officer of Aviation Medicine. In November 2009 she was promoted to HM1. In December 2010, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Villanova University and commissioned as Ensign in the Nurse Corps through the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program.
LCDR Babawale reported to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia in 2011 and served as a staff nurse on the intensive care unit. In June 2015, LCDR Babawale transition to the Navy Reserve to attended Edward College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated in 2019 with a degree in Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and transition back to active duty in the Medical Corps. LCDR Babawale is currently completing her Internal Medicine Residency at Naval Medical Readiness Training Command Portsmouth Virginia and has interested in future training in Cardiology.
Lieutenant Commander Babawale’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medals (with two Gold Stars), Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards), Humanitarian Service Medal and Letters of Commendations.
