Bryce Slinger serves as the lead for strategic studies and performance reporting for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. In this role, Mr. Slinger manages the Military Health System’s strategy, advances approaches to evaluating system-wide strategic performance, and oversees a portfolio of studies to help solve intractable problems.
Prior to assuming his position in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Mr. Slinger was as an analyst at the Defense Health Agency where he helped develop the agency’s first strategic plan. He was detailed to the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at the Department of Health and Human Services to improve the analytic framework for assessing national public health preparedness.
Hailing from North Carolina, Mr. Slinger is an alumnus of the Presidential Management Fellowship and a Returned Peace Corps where he served as a community health generalist in rural Uganda. He received a B.A. in anthropology from Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN and Master’s in Public Health from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Slinger is currently completing a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
In his free time, Mr. Slinger is an active member of the Washington Improv Theater with a penchant for global travel.
