Veronica Sikka is an Emergency Medicine trained and boarded physician who currently works as the Chief of Virtual Care in the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, VISN 8. She is the former Chief of the Emergency Department at the Orlando VA where she led the opening of the first ED in central Florida to serve America’s Veterans.
Dr. Sikka is also very passionate about teaching medical students and residents and is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at UCF School of Medicine and teaches nationally for the Emergency Medicine oral boards with the American Association of Emergency Medicine. She started a partnership with Orlando Regional Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program to establish a rotation for Emergency Medicine residents at the Orlando VA Medical Center.
Dr. Sikka has always been interested in taking complex medical topics and relating to medical students, residents, and patients. This translated into her passion for media. She has worked with World News Tonight and Good Morning American at the ABC News headquarters in New York city.
Dr. Sikka is also very well published and wrote a LWW book entitled Step UP to the Bedside for medical students preparing for the USMLE. She is also widely published in both emergency medicine and healthcare leadership. She is very involved in the Orlando community and volunteers at Shephard’s Hope where she was recently named the Associate Medical Director.
In her spare time, Veronica and her husband, Raaj, who is a gastroenterologist in the Orlando area, love to travel, go bike riding, work out, and cook. They both have a daughter, Raveena, and a son, Ravi, who they absolutely enjoy watching grow.
