Dr. Anisa K. Moore is the Service Chief of Vaccinations, Environmental Health, and Employee Occupational Health for the VA Eastern CO Health Care System and the Lead Environmental Health Clinician for VISN 19, an area which encompasses Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming. In 2019, she created one of the first freestanding Environmental Health departments in the VA at a time when most Environmental Health work was subsumed under Compensation and Pension or Employee Occupational Health programs. Under her leadership, the Eastern CO Environmental Health department has completed Airborne Hazard/Open Burn Pit Registry exams for over 1,500 Veterans. During the COVID pandemic, her team piloted an innovative "split exam" approach using telehealth to continue performing registry exams safely. She has trained VA clinicians all over the country about how to perform Airborne Hazard/Open Burn Pit Registry exams and been featured in the following veteran-oriented publications: Airborne hazards exams probably saved their lives - VAntage Point and Military Exposures & Your Health - 2020 -Issue #2 - Public Health (va.gov).
