Matthew W. Sherwood MD, MHS is the Codirector of the Structural Heart Program, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and LAAC program at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute and an adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke University Medical Center. He completed Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Structural Heart Disease training at Duke University Hospital. His clinical interests include valvular heart disease, complex coronary disease, and stroke prevention strategies. The focus of his clinical research is on the use of antithorombotic therapies and quality of care in structural heart disease. He is a member of multiple committees on the national level for ACC and SCAI. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, and editorials in journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of American College of Cardiology, and Circulation.
