Ashley Self received her bachelor’s degree in 2012 from Murray State University, graduating from their veterinary technology program. She then completed a technician specialty internship on the nutrition service at the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been on the veterinary nutrition service for the past 9 years and received her technician specialty in nutrition in 2018. Since then, Ashley has been a liaison for the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians to the American College of Veterinary Nutrition and is currently the secretary for the American College of Veterinary Nutrition. Her career has provided opportunity to speak at conferences, educate veterinary students and residents, write publications, and participate in research. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Tennessee in Animal Science focusing on equine nutrition. Looking forward she hopes to enhance nutrition education and research for veterinary technicians and veterinary students in both small and large animal nutrition and promote the appropriate use of veterinary technicians in nutrition.
