As Executive Director of Development for the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University -- a first of its kind medical center for our planet that serves as the cornerstone of ASU’s commitment to sustainability and shaping a thriving tomorrow for all of Earth’s inhabitants -- Ryan Robinson leads the case creation, team building, fundraising efforts and advancement strategy. The Global Futures Laboratory goes where no other institution of higher education ohas gone by positioning itself as a new world headquarters for an international network of scientists, scholars, and innovators in Arizona with centers and partnerships across the nation and around the world; we anticipate and respond to urgent challenges; and use innovation to responsibly, ethically and purposefully shape our future.
Robinson came to ASU after serving as Senior Director of Major Gifts in the Western States for the University of Michigan where he led UM's frontline development work in the Bay Area, Colorado, & Utah. Robinson formed and guided a group of 25 executive level alumni that moved UM’s philanthropic mission forward through the "NextGen Bay Area Council”; Ryan oversaw the Bay and Colorado Campaign Councils in the $5B Victors for Michigan campaign. Nationally, Robinson catalyzed Michigan's "The Raise: Generations of Black Excellence" and served as the national co-lead alongside the Executive Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Robinson helped create the DEI strategy for the National Major Gifts Team as a DEI liaison.
Prior to returning to Michigan, Robinson ushered University of California San Diego's School of Global Policy and Strategy as the Director of Development through the silent phase of UCSD's $2B campaign and designed the $10M Presidential Scholarship Initiative as the Director of Development-Central Initiatives in Oregon State University's successful $1B campaign.
