Dana Sawchuk, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has been conducting research on aging for more than 15 years. Her work on exploring older adults' use of public libraries for magazine access and reading has been funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Development Grant. Related publications include "Older Women Using Women's Magazines: The Construction of Knowledgeable Selves" (with Mina Ly, published in Ageing & Society) and a forthcoming book chapter entitled, "Older Women and Women's Magazines: Audience, Agency, and Life Course." She also conducts research on older adults and job loss and on the mobilization of unpaid family caregiviers in Canada.
