She was profiled in the documentaries A Whole New Light in 2014 and Ripples in 2021. Her graphic novel memoir, Dancing After TEN, was shortlisted for the Toronto Book Award, showcased as one of NPR's Best Books of 2020, and it was recommend by the American Library Association Journal and the New York Times.
