Health Research Librarian
University of Victoria Libraries
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Zahra Premji is currently the Health Research Librarian at University of Victoria Libraries and in this role provides support and guidance to researchers and students in the departments of Psychology, Public Health, Neuroscience, and Kinesiology on their systematic and scoping review projects. In her previous role, she was an academic librarian with liaison responsibilities in both faculties of Medicine and Business, where she engaged with researchers conducting systematic reviews and meta-analysis. She co-developed a workshop series to teach various steps of the systematic review methodology to participants from all disciplines, and also delivered shorter versions of a similar workshop at 2 management conferences. In addition to this, she has conducted an exploratory study on the state of librarian involvement in published business-related systematic reviews and collaborated on a cross-sectional study which surveyed business librarians' familiarity and involvement in business-related systematic reviews. Her interest in this topic arose from the stark differences observed between the way that librarians were involved in health-related systematic reviews but not business-related systematic reviews, as well as the differences in the methodologies being used and reported in the published literature in each discipline.
