Manager, Public Services
Barrie Public Library
Vivien Keiling, MLIS, is a Public Services Manager for Barrie Public Library. Vivien was first exposed to working within a union in her very first job as a Page for Toronto Public Library; over the years she gathered experience, working in various positions within both public and academic libraries - in both unionized and non-unionized environments - completing her unionized career as a Librarian within Vaughan Public Libraries. After transitioning to Management in a unionized system, Vivien sought further professional development through Schulich's School of Business, and the Public Library Leaders program and is always ready to seek opportunities to learn (or re-learn) concepts, trends, and best practices to help ensure that the services and resources that the staff at Barrie Public Library are providing meet the growing needs of their ever-changing community. Always an active member of OLA, Vivien has participated in various OLA Committees and initiatives and continues to be a strong advocate for others to engage in OLA opportunities.
