DR. Raymond Anthony Costabile COL U.S.A (ret) principle clinical and research interests are in the areas of male infertility, male and female sexual health and reconstructive urology. He also served as Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Strategy in the School of Medicine from 2008-2015. Dr. Costabile became the Hovey S Dabney Professor of Urology and Chairman in 2014.
Dr. Costabile was previously assigned as Chief of the Urology Service/Chairman and Urology Residency Program Director at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington. He assumed the position in May 1999 after 10 years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. During his tenure he was also an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. From December 2001 until September 2003, Dr. Costabile commanded the 47th Combat Support Hospital to include its deployment to Iraq/Kuwait where it was the largest coalition military hospital deployed during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Under Dr. Costabile’s command, the 47th CSH was the principle combat hospital, responsible for caring for over 92% of all battle casualties during the initial nine months of the conflict.
Dr. Costabile has published extensively in the field of Andrology with over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also on the editorial staff of several Urology Journals. COL (ret) Costabile’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, Order of Military Medical Merit, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf cluster, National Service Defense Medal, Army Reserve medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Superior Unit Citation.
