Biosketch:
James C. Ulchaker, M.D. F.A.C.S.
Graduated from Baldwin Wallace College, Case Western University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was awarded the Bruce H. Stewart award for being the top resident at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has subsequently been on staff in the section of Urologic Oncology/Prostate Center for the past 22 years and is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Cleveland Clinic. For the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Ulchaker served on the surgical committee from 2002-2011 and currently serves on GUKI’s innovations, DRG optimization and telemedicine committees. He was the chair of the BPH/endourology section of the World Congress of Endourology held at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2007.
He has been the Past President of the Cleveland Urological Society, the Ohio Urological Society, and North Central Section of the American Urological Association. Nationally, he served as the Chair of the AUA’s Young Urologist Committee, the AUA Education Committee, and as Chair of AUA Legislative Affairs Committee, a position he held for eight years. He was the AUA’s 2012 Gallagher Health Policy Scholar and is the former Vice-Chair of UROPAC. Dr. Ulchaker is also a former member of the AUA’s BPH Guidelines Panel and has given numerous AUA courses on both BPH and health policy. He becomes the North Central Section Representative to the AUA May 2020.
The majority of his research has been in the field of new technologies associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, tumor markers, and the socioeconomic implications of today’s healthcare environment.
He is married with two children ages 21 and 19 and is a life long resident of Rocky River where he serves as the Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Rocky River.
