Joseph Chin, M.D, FRCSC, is a Professor of Urology and Oncology at Western University in London Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the U. of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and completed his Urology training at Western University. He completed an Uro-oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer and a Renal Transplantation Fellowship at Western before joining the faculty there. He is a former Chair of Urology and Surgical Oncology at Western University. His laboratory and clinical research interests are in prostate cancer management, including minimally invasive and alternative forms of management (HIFU, Cryoablation, laser ablation, transurethral ultrasound ablation). His clinical practice at London Health Sciences Center is concentrated in Urologic Oncology. He has published 300 research papers and book chapters, mostly in the area of uro-oncology. He is an editorial board member on several key international Urology journals. Dr. Chin is Past President of the Northeastern Section of AUA and the Canadian Urological Association. He was awarded the Order of Ontario and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, both for his contributions to the field of prostate cancer in Canada, specifically in patient and public education. He was also awarded the CUA Lifetime Achievement Award by the Canadian Urological Association in 2017. Dr. Chin has commpleted the Boston Marathon four times, all as a part of a fund-raising and awareness-raising campaign for prostate cancer.
