Johanna Hannan, PhD is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, USA. Dr. Hannan completed her PhD at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Ontario mentored by Michael Adams, PhD. She continued her training with a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, USA with Clinton Webb, PhD and 4 years at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA working with Trinity Bivalacqua, MD PhD and Arthur Burnett, MD MBA. Her training has resulted in a strong background in many biochemical and in vivo techniques, smooth muscle signaling, neurovascular physiology and pathophysiology of the genitourinary tract. Her research interests focus on bladder, vaginal and penile function/dysfunction in diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and aging. Dr. Hannan is a previous AUA Research Scholar Award recipient and an active member in many societies.
