Dr K Thomas MBBS MD FRCS(Urol) qualified and trained in the London area and did her masters thesis as a Research Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 2006. Her specialist interest is endourology with a particular focus on cystinuria and upper tract transitional cell carcinoma. Developed, validated and published The Guys Stone Score which is measure of stone complexity for PCNL and is used in the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) national benchmarking audit. Established the cystinuria clinic at Guy's over 10 years ago where over 200 patients have been seen and work has been published and presented both Nationally and Internationally. Developed a methd of using Bouins solution to improve the interpretation of ureteroscopic biopsies which is part of UK Pathology Guidelines. Part of a multidisciplinary team specifically managing upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma. Disease Area Co-ordinator for Rare Renal Stone DIsease for eUROGEN - European Rare DIsease Network (ERN) and Co-Chair of the Cystinuria Group for the UK Rare Renal Registry (RaDaR). Faculty member of the European Assoication of Urology (EAU) Urolithiasis Guideline Panel and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Renal and Ureteric Stone Guidelines. In addition to her clinical and academic work she has a managerial role as the Deputy Medical Director for Professional Development at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital.
