Theresa Caridi, MD, FSIR, is an Associate Professor and the Division Director of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After attending the University of Florida for medical school and radiology residency, Dr. Caridi completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. The first seven years of her career were spent at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., before joining the faculty at UAB.
Dr. Caridi is dually board certified in Radiology and Interventional Radiology. She currently serves as not only the Division Director of Interventional Radiology but also Vice Chair of Interventional Affairs for the Department of Radiology at UAB. She has a secondary appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB. Dr. Caridi is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and is presently serving as Vice Chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors. After her term is complete, she will serve a graduated role as Chair of the Foundation Board of Directors to follow. Dr. Caridi is an active editorial board member and reviewer for premiere medical journals within her specialty.
Special interests include the treatment of uterine fibroids and other uterine conditions, pelvic venous insufficiency/varicocele, prostate hyperplasia, kidney cancer, and pulmonary AVMs. She is a national/international lecturer, teacher, and active publisher on research related to these topics.
