Mark McGaunn, CPA/PFS CFP® is the CEO of McGaunn & Schwadron, CPA’s, LLC, a virtual Boston CPA and consulting group providing strategic tax and business planning, acquisition due diligence, valuations, personal financial planning, and practice management consulting services to veterinary practice owners and venture capital investors across the United States.
Mark is the co-host of the top-rated podcast "The Veterinary Survival Show", where he and co-host Jenni George, CVPM discuss relevant topics that help owners and managers improve hospital performance, culture, and overall success.
Mark leverages over 30 years of business experience to provide practitioners a clear understanding of complex business and management topics, as well as his insight on medicine gained by five years working as a 911 paramedic for an urban EMS system, related medical school and teaching hospital. He has spoken at national, regional, and local veterinary and dental conferences as well as at US veterinary and dental schools.
Mark was the Contributing Finance Editor, for Wiley Blackwell's "Five-Minute Veterinary Practice Management Consult", 1st - 3rd editions, and a contributing author to Wiley Blackwell's Pet-Specific Care, 1st edition.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), an AICPA Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and a cum laude graduate of UMass-Amherst.
Mark is the Treasurer/Board Member for The Veterinary Cooperative, a US group purchasing organization representing over 4,000 US veterinary hospitals. He is also a member of the veterinary practice management consultants group VetPartners and its Valuation Council special interest group.
