Dr. Stephanie Larson has worked for the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), for 35 years, as the County Director (Sonoma County) and the Livestock and Range Management Advisor (Sonoma and Marin Counties). Her programs address climate change, food production and ecological and economical management of working landscapes in northern California. She has a BS (University of Idaho) and MS (University of Wyoming) in Animal Science and a PhD (Oregon State University) in Rangeland Management. Dr. Larson’s programs documents the ecosystem services provided by rangelands, highlighting the benefits of using grazing animals as tools to address vegetation management to reduce fire fuels, improve habitat and increase forage production. Her efforts deliver economic opportunities for local agriculture producers, making their operations more sustainable and economically viable. She is a licensed certified rangeland manager; brings landowners and policy makers together to make science based decisions and polices to manage working landscapes for all users.
