Dana Hicks is the Planning and Policy Manager at Oregon Department of State Lands. Dana and her team provide technical expertise in the areas of removal-fill permitting, mitigation, uses of state-owned waterways, and wetland inventories and planning. Dana has worked for DSL for 14 years. Her interdisciplinary approach to aquatic systems and the benefits that they provide has led to advances in Oregon’s mitigation approach and coordination across stakeholder interests. Prior to joining DSL, Dana worked with the Lower Rogue Watershed Council where she coordinated watershed assessment and strategic planning, habitat restoration, water quality monitoring and education projects. Dana studied biology and aquatic chemistry at Missouri State University and has a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Oregon Health & Science University.
