Dr. April Young is an Associate Professor in the University of Kentucky Department of Epidemiology and Faculty Associate with the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research. Dr. Young has been conducting substance use research in rural Kentucky for more than ten years. She has authored and co-authored more than 70 publications to substance use, HIV, hepatitis C, overdose, and sexually transmitted infections. She has led five federally-funded studies on substance use, including a community-engaged project funded by the National Rural Opioid Initiative to reduce harms associated with substance use in twelve of Kentucky’s hardest hit rural counties.
