Sudha R Raman, PhD is an assistant professor at the Department of Population Health Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine, and an epidemiologist who studies the downstream population-level consequences of opioid use across the lifespan. She uses population-based real-world data and tailored study design to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of evidence-based practices related to opioid prescription and substance use disorder. Dr. Raman has published her research in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, Lancet Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Health Affairs. She is a physical therapist by training, obtained a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. She is a part of the Opioid Collaboratory at Duke University, whose mission is to save lives and reduce the harmful impact of opioids in North Carolina through the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of sustainable, system-level interventions.
